I discovered her thanks to The Love Affair and I loved her creations at first sight.
Who is she? She is Laura, aka LauraGPaperthink, a young Italian designer of paper accessories for brides and bridesmaids.
Hello Laura, tell us who you are
I was born as an architect but I reinvented myself as a designer, or better, a free creative! My head imagines objects that my hands make real. Here’s where my crazy love for paper comes from: paper can become exactly what I imagine. Even better than I imagine it!
The attention to details is crucial to my work. Details give the quality of the product. The precise but natural cuts of the paper are hand made just to give naturalness and uniqueness to each piece.
How were your brand and the idea of making paper accessories born?
It was born almost for fun about seven years ago. My aunt asked me to make small hair clips for all the women attending a family reunion. It was a small party, only for women. I had limited time to make the accessories so I used the only material that I had in my hands: paper. The clips were so appreciated that, from that moment on, I began to make other accessories for them, for their friends, and so on.
What inspires you in creating hair accessories?
The creation process is quite instinctive, I can say that my attention is attracted by the surrounding world, by the very same lines and forms that exist in nature. The shape of the things, the profile that they have, these are the things that inspire me.
Are they all custom made creations?
Each accessory is studied starting from the bride dress that will have to match with and to the mood of the ceremony. The color and the size are totally customizable, depending on the bride’s requests. If I can not find the right shade of color, I paint the paper myself .
In addition to hair accessories, do you also create other items or bijoux?
For weddings, I create small favors in scented paper that can be customized in the type of subject, even with a phrase chosen by the couples.
In the world of accessories, the latest arrival is MY FLOWER, a new and fresh line that includes flower-shaped paper bracelets.
