Wedding planning can be exciting, but it can also be stressful, especially when it comes to budgeting. While there are obvious expenses like floral design, photography, and wedding stationery, there are also many “hidden” costs that can add up quickly. These include travel expenses for vendors, cleaning staff, car valet, security, and extra time costs.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]

When planning your wedding budget, it’s important to consider all the potential expenses and to ask vendors about any hidden costs upfront. For example, when contacting a vendor, be sure to ask about travel expenses and how much they will cost. Also, check if there are any additional costs for cleaning staff, car valet, and security, which are often not included in venue prices. It’s also important to establish timing with all vendors and to check for any extra time costs.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://whitecatwedding.com/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/01/sharon-mccutcheon-8lnbXtxFGZw-unsplash.webp” title_text=”sharon-mccutcheon-8lnbXtxFGZw-unsplash” _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” width=”75%” module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

One of the most significant expenses in a wedding budget is the reception, which is closely tied to the expected number of guests. But what exactly does the reception include and how can you plan for it effectively?

The reception typically includes the cost of lunch or dinner, any extras such as an open bar, and rental costs for the aperitif or mise en place. According to my experience, the expenses for the reception typically make up 40% of the overall wedding budget, not including the venue rental fee.

When considering a reception quotation, it’s important to pay attention to the following details:

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://whitecatwedding.com/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/01/northfolk-Ok76F6yW2iA-unsplash.webp” title_text=”northfolk-Ok76F6yW2iA-unsplash” _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” width=”75%” module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

If you’re having trouble budgeting for your wedding, consider reaching out to a professional wedding planner. They can help you understand your budget and guide you through the planning process. With transparency and careful planning, you can build the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Wedding planning can be exciting, but it can also be stressful, especially when it comes to budgeting. It's also difficult to define a priori how much to allocate to the organization of your wedding. One of the items that has a great impact on the wedding budget is the reception, strictly connected to the expected number of guests. What do I mean by the reception and what does this item include?

The reception is the part of the wedding day that follows the ceremony and its cost includes: cost for lunch or dinner, costs for any extras to be considered for after lunch/after dinner (such as the open bar), rental costs for the aperitif or for the mise en place.

Making an average of the weddings that I managed, the expenses for the reception is about 40/50% of the whole wedding budget, excluding the rental fee of the venue.

What details to pay attention to in the reception's quotation:

In a wedding budget, there are many items that compose the whole event: there are "immediate" items such as the floral design, the photographer, the wedding stationery, and there are items that you don't immediately think of, such as lighting, or animation for children.

There are also hidden costs for any items, that most couples do not consider immediately, ending up affecting the budget. Here are the most common ones:

Every wedding is a different project and, as such, each expense item can vary a lot. There are weddings in which the floral arrangement plays a leading role and has a great importance also on the budget, and weddings in which music and entertainment have a great economic impact.

What do I do with couples who contact me? During the first appointment or the first call, I try to understand if they have a budget idea and check with them if it's a realistic budget or if it's necessary to change it. Then, when we start working together, I share with the couple an estimated cost for each item of the budget, which is then defined during the realization of the creative project and the confirmation of the various vendors. With the utmost transparency, we build their project together.

WEDDING VENDORS & WEDDING VENUE

Often, the ideas that the couple has, are far from what they would like to spend. A conscious and realistic approach to what you can do with the budget at your disposal is certainly the best way to go.
