Finally, I’m back on the blog and I want to talk with you about one of the questions you ask me most frequently: when to start wedding planning?
There is no univocal answer to this question and I must say that the weddings of the 2019 season have been proof of this.
A few examples? I start in February 2018 planning a wedding that was held in July 2019, with the research of the venue (which was already full for June 2019), but I also planned a September wedding in just 3 months!
The ideal timing
Whenever possible, my advice is to start to contact the wedding planners and the venues at least a year in advance, especially if you want a particular date. Every year, thanks to popular months, and limited weekends, there are always many more popular dates than others.
The same if the venue you would rent is very popular: contact it as soon as possible to check which dates are still available, especially in the months of June, July, and September.
There are also so many causes that influence the timing of the planning:
– do you have many guests who will arrive from abroad? Start the research of the venue as soon as you can so you can give them a save the date and they have time to organize themselves with flights and hotel
– do you want a particular vendor? Hire him/her as soon as you have decided the date

Everything is possible and everything could be realized. Of course, it takes a great deal of flexibility, adaptability and you need to know how to compromise. You may not find the date you want free and have to change it, or the venue you dream and have to fall back on a different one (but equally suitable for your wedding).
The same goes for the vendors: banqueting, photographer, floral designer, make up artist, and many other vendors are often hired even more than a year before the wedding.
Being accompanied by a wedding planner, in this case, is even more suitable because in the short time available she will be able to find the best vendors, and help you in the choices to make.
